New Year's "Good Luck" Pasta Fazool
A hearty bowl of Chef John's pasta e fagioli will make you feel lucky no matter what time of year you eat it.
This is really good! Had not tried swiss chard before and now we love it. I did makes a couple of small changes the 2nd time I made this; cooked the bacon pieces until crispy, removed with slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel and added them back into the soup as garnish before serving. Also cooked the pasta separately and added just what we needed to our bowls so it wouldn't be mushy in the left-overs the next day.
This was fantastic. Quick and easy to make and absolutely delicious. The only changes I made were that I couldn't find swiss chard by itself, so I used a mixed greens package that had baby swiss chard, spinach, and kale, and I didn't have to cook it as long, because they were already pretty tender. I added more pasta, because it didn't seem like enough but, I was wrong. Definitely going to make again. You the man, Chef John.
This was delicious. I did have to add a little more water because it was getting to thick, so watch for that. But I was extremely happy with the flavor.
My teen kids wanted to make this because they liked saying "Pasta Fazool" and it turned out so good! We really liked it. Thank you Chef John.
This classic Italian-American comfort food works with any kind of sausage, but Chef John prefers the fennel and anise flavors of sweet Italian sausage with the beans.
